TL;DR
Your map app will disagree with this page
Vietnam abolished its district tier in July 2025, so Google Maps now shows Da Nang addresses by ward ("An Hai", "Hai Chau", "Ngu Hanh Son"). Everyone still talks in the old area names, and so do we.
An Thuong / My An: the walkable tourist quarter
A grid of numbered lanes (An Thuong 1 to 38) plus Do Ba and Le Quang Dao, tucked behind the southern end of My Khe beach. Hostels, cafés, bars, and more massage rooms per block than anywhere else in the city; several of the best-reviewed spas are within 400 m of each other and everything is under a ten-minute walk to the sea. This is also where the pavement touting happens, so density cuts both ways: choose by review count and posted menu, not by whoever calls out first.

My Khe / Son Tra side: the hotel blocks behind the beach
The wards along Vo Nguyen Giap, the beach road, and the streets one to three blocks inland: Ho Nghinh, Pham Van Dong, Ha Bong, Duong Dinh Nghe, Pham Cu Luong. Mid-rise hotels rather than hostels, with a Korean- and Chinese-facing service economy layered over the Vietnamese one. The city's biggest massage houses are here, several with more than 10,000 Google reviews, and this is where residents send you when you ask for the upmarket default: Luxury Herbal Spa on Duong Dinh Nghe.

Hai Chau: city centre and the Han riverside
The old commercial centre on the west bank: Tran Phu, Bach Dang along the river, Thai Phien and Yen Bai around Con Market and the Cham Museum. Where you are if you came for the city rather than the beach; the Dragon Bridge is a kilometre away and the sand about three. Spas here are city spas, many on hotel floors, with prices broadly matching the beach side. InBalance at the Novotel is the only five-star hotel spa in the core, and residents report it takes non-guests; confirm when you call.

Ngu Hanh Son / Non Nuoc: the resort strip
South of An Thuong the beach road runs past the Marble Mountains to Non Nuoc beach and on towards Hoi An. This is the five-star belt: Furama, Premier Village, Pullman, TIA Wellness, Hyatt Regency, Sheraton Grand, Naman, Fusion. Almost nothing is walkable. The useful question is which resort spas take outside guests, and the honest answer is: V-Senses at Furama does, in writing, with packages priced for local and expat guests; Maia at Fusion sells a paid daily retreat but asks for 24 hours' notice by email, so confirm; the InterContinental on Son Tra sells a day pass whose spa element is a manicure, not a massage. Two independent mid-range spas on this stretch save you the resort price.

View allThanh Khe: the local side
West of the railway and inland of Hai Chau, Thanh Khe has almost no tourist trade and is where Da Nang's visually-impaired massage centres cluster, alongside neighbourhood head-spa rooms priced for locals. It is the cheapest legitimate massage in the city; none of the blind-massage centres publishes a price list, so phone first.
