Avoid these
Neon signs reading "VIP massage", "body-to-body" or offers of a "happy ending"; female touts pulling men in off the street; no printed menu or reluctance to quote a price; clustering around the Bui Vien, Pham Ngu Lao, Ton That Tung and Le Thanh Ton nightlife strips. Even some hotel parlours can be hit-or-miss — choose named, well-reviewed venues.
The recurring problems travellers report are tip-pressure, undisclosed "extras", surprise charges for couples' rooms, and theft from lockers. None of these happen at the reputable venues in our directory.
